Did the Supreme Court Just Extend Statutes of Limitation by 89 Days?

On March 23, 2020, Supreme Court Administrative Order No. (“AO”) 2020-3 extended the deadlines for filing complaints, and answers to complaints, “during the state of emergency declared by the Governor related to COVID-19.”
Per this Order, any deadline for a complaint or answer that fell during the state of emergency, declared on March 11, 2020, was put off until the day after the state of emergency ends.
Last week, AO 2020-18 rescinded AO
2020-3, effective Saturday, June 20, 2020. The new Order states that “the computation of time for those filings shall resume.”
A similar Order dealing with appellate deadlines, AO 2020-4, was recently rescinded by AO 2020-16. The new Order states that, effective Monday, June 8, 2020, “the periods for all filings, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional” in the Michigan Court of Appeals and Supreme Court “shall resume.”
